U.S. Accreditation

“Doing the first two years of college at Broward was the best decision I could have made. Every single course I took was accepted by the university I transferred to.”

María Elena Bejarano, Penn State University (Transferred 2015)

Broward College is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in Atlanta, Georgia.

In the United States accreditation is awarded by private, independent, non-governmental organizations that have been created specifically to review higher education institutions and programs. These accrediting bodies are reviewed for quality by entities such as the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the United States Department of Education (USDE).

The accreditation process guarantees the review of a school’s faculty experience, expertise and academic credentials, recruiting practices, admissions procedures, course content, technology, student counseling and assistance, financial stability and much more. Influenced and affected by the role of accreditation teams, all U.S. colleges and universities are accountable for continually working to improve the quality and results of the education they provide.

Credit Transfer: To transfer credits to a U.S. accredited school, your credits must also come from a U.S accredited college or university. If your institution is not accredited in the U.S., your academic history must go through a review and, most likely, only a few of your credits will be transferable to a U.S. college or university. Evaluations are done by the J. Silny Company in Miami. See http://www.jsilny.com for more information.

Future Employment: Employers often look for proof that their job applicants have received a college or university degree from an accredited academic program. Job applicants may not be eligible for employment and employees may not be eligible for advancement if their degrees are not from accredited schools.

Perhaps the greatest advantage that we offer students is the chance to earn up to two years of a traditional four year university degree in Ecuador, at an accredited U.S. college. for a fraction of the cost.
